What's Happening With the "W"
- What we’ve done so far:
- Established New Business, Michigan Non-Profit & Charitable Solicitation
- Obtained 501(c)3 (tax exempt) status
- Began fundraising
- Letters & calls to former members (to date results from this $21,600)
- Spaghetti dinner & silent auction July 2009 (approx. $4000)
- Booth at Fun Days, Fair, 4th of July, & Farmers Market (approx. $1100)
- Culver’s Cards ($1300)
- Labor Day Can Drive (approx. $600)
- Bake Sale @ Marquette Medical Center June & November (raised over $1000 each time)
- January 2010 ~ Spaghetti Dinner
- Invited to present at several area business organizations
- Submitted funding request to large area organization
- Received United Way designated giving funds ($200+, more to come)
- Submitted & received S.O.S.Y. capacity building grant through Great Lakes Center for Youth Development
- Participating in training’s on leadership, business development, board development, volunteer recruitment, etc
- Plan to submit for upcoming S.O.S.Y. funding opportunity
- Met with Senator Stabenow’s office related to contacts and grant opportunities
- Invited to submit narrative explaining impact and needs
- Expect to be invited to upcoming grant opportunity
- Obtaining bids for large building renovation improvements in order to have ready when grant available (expect February)
- Obtaining cost estimates on capacity building needs in order to have info ready when grant opens (expect February)
- Meeting with large health group related to possible collaboration on building use
- Participating in Younker’s Community Day coupon books ~ profit $5 per booklet, buyer gets $10 coupon plus other coupons for Community Day Feb 27
